PRIORITY 1

To improve the marketing program of the organization by enhancing the current marketing efforts

  • Comments, monthly newsletter
  • The Source, weekly electronic alert
  • Client Directory & Resource Guide, annual production with quarterly updates
  • Networking events - attendance at same
  • Educational & Training programs
  • Business Beat, bi-monthly newspaper column
  • Professional associations and affiliations:
    • U.S. Chamber of Commerce, Western Association of Chamber Executives
    • California Chamber of Commerce, Super Checks, Area Chambers of Commerce
    • Travis Regional Armed Forces Committee
    • Downtown Vacaville Business Improvement District
    • Vacaville Conference & Visitors Bureau, City of Vacaville Economic Development

Creating additional marketing efforts for the current fiscal year

  • To become more directly involved in the annual Business Expo.
  • To market the University of the Chamber.
  • To communicate in all of our daily operations, correspondence and marketing tools:
    • Creation of a strong local economy
    • Promoting the Community
    • Provision of networking opportunities
    • Representing the interest of business with government
    • Political action

PRIORITY 2

Contract with a locally based "government affairs" contractor for approximately $25,000.00

  • Develop an aggressive strategic plan for promoting Chamber board-directed goals and objectives on an annual basis
  • Identify key legislative and regulatory actions at the state and local levels
  • Develop a proactive plan for state and regional issues - undoing "job killer" bills, transportation, protect Travis and other issues that are deemed essential to the business community
  • Develop a corps of "Citizen Advocates" - train 60% of major employers and 10% of general membership to be effective advocates at the local, state and federal level
  • Coordinate start-of-session "Legislative Speakers Series" lunch forum that brings legislators to the city to present their goals
  • Coordinate a follow-up meeting to present Chamber goals to legislators and local elected officials
  • Produce a bi-monthly email briefing for Chamber clients
  • Author articles for the monthly newsletter Comments
  • Develop a "Rapid Response Team" of willing Chamber clients to respond immediately to pressing legislative and regulatory proposals
  • Develop coalitions of like-minded trade associations, community organizations and local elected and appointed officials to achieve Chamber goals
  • Provide the Business & Community Political Action Committee (BACPAC) an analysis of state and local races, candidate analysis and campaign advice
  • Develop legislative/media relations handbooks for clients of the Chamber leadership, Business Issues Committee and major employers for Chamber production
  • Produce and annual "Report Card" with Chamber leadership to reflect legislators' votes on key business and community issues

PRIORITY 3

Establishment of a "Leadership" Program, by planning for one this current fiscal year

  • Develop a "Steering Committee"
  • Decide the curriculum
  • Pursue feasibility of the development of by-laws
  • Prepare a preliminary operating budget
  • Develop corporate support, sponsorship and financial commitment
  • Develop standards of selection
  • Develop standards of operation
